{"id":5379,"date":"2026-09-02T08:34:46","date_gmt":"2026-09-02T08:34:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pinsportapp.info\/?p=5379"},"modified":"2026-09-01T09:12:49","modified_gmt":"2026-09-01T09:12:49","slug":"bridge-poc-grant-awarded","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pinsportapp.info\/de\/bridge-poc-grant-awarded\/","title":{"rendered":"BRIDGE PoC Grant Awarded"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-post\" data-elementor-id=\"5379\" class=\"elementor elementor-5379\" data-elementor-post-type=\"post\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6e62a87f e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"6e62a87f\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7466336d elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"7466336d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\ud83c\udf89\u00a0<strong>Exciting news: PIN Sport App has been awarded a BRIDGE Proof of Concept grant from the Swiss National Science Foundation and Innosuisse!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We&#8217;re thrilled to share that our founder\u00a0<strong>Pearl Oti-Amoako<\/strong>&#8216;s project\u00a0<strong>&#8220;PIN Sport Social: Bias-Aware Matching Engine for Sport Club Recruiting&#8221;<\/strong>\u00a0has been selected for BRIDGE PoC funding \u2014 Switzerland&#8217;s leading program bridging scientific research and market-ready innovation.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over the next 12 months, I&#8217;ll be joining the University of Lausanne (UNIL) full-time as a researcher in the group of <b>Dr. Carlos G\u00f3mez Gonz\u00e1lez<\/b>, senior lecturer in sports socioeconomics at the <b>Faculty<\/b><b>\u00a0of Social and Political <\/b><b>Sciences<\/b>\u00a0und <b>UNIL Sport<\/b> (ISSUL), to design and validate a bias-aware matching infrastructure directly on the live PIN Sport App platform.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This project builds on research that started with Pearl&#8217;s Master&#8217;s thesis at the University of Zurich, which showed that applicants with foreign-sounding names receive measurably fewer positive responses from Swiss amateur sport clubs \u2014 and that awareness campaigns alone aren&#8217;t enough to close that gap. PIN Sport Social takes the next step: testing whether the\u00a0<em>architecture<\/em>\u00a0of the matching process itself, not just messaging, can structurally reduce ethnic and gender bias in access to sport.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two field experiments on our live platform will put this to the test.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A huge thank you to\u00a0<strong>Dr. Carlos G\u00f3mez Gonz\u00e1lez<\/strong>\u00a0for his continued mentorship and collaboration, and to\u00a0<strong>Emmanuel Delamarche and the team at Knowledge Transfer UNIL-CHUV<\/strong>\u00a0for their invaluable support throughout the application process.
